Hear Thunder | Seek Shelter

Your Safety is our Top Priority!

All Members, Staff and Visitors to Seminole Soccer Complex:

To ensure the safety of all during lightning storms within a ten-mile radius of the Seminole United facility at Seminole Soccer Complex.

  • Weather Forecast: Check local weather forecasts and radar updates before all scheduled activities. Have an idea and plan for what weather may be heading your way.

  • Lightning Alert: When the lightning alert system detects a lightning strike within a ten-mile radius, the warning sound will activate.
  • 1 horn notification = lightning detected, seek shelter immediately.

  • Seek Shelter Immediately: This shelter should be a substantial and fully enclosed (DO NOT use the pavilions)
  • Please go directly to your vehicles or seek shelter in the main office.

  • Avoid High-Risk Areas: In the absence of a suitable shelter, avoid high-risk areas like open fields, bodies of water, and isolated structures.

  • Wait for Safety: Wait for 30-Minute All-Clear: After the last observed lightning strike within a ten-mile radius, wait for a minimum of 30 minutes before resuming outdoor activities. The weather monitor should keep track of this period.

  • No Outdoor Activities: During the waiting period, NO outdoor activities should take place, and participants and staff should remain indoors or in their vehicles. This includes the parking spaces in-between fields.

  • Provide Updates: Please continuously monitor the weather conditions and check your devices for updates. Updates will be given in a timely basis directly from your coach.

  • All-Clear Signal: The weather monitor will give an all-clear signal when it's safe to resume activities. Only then should outdoor activities be resumed.

  • Should the Seminole Soccer Complex be closed for the evening, a Playmetrics Message/Email (or equivalent) will be sent ASAP to inform you.

By following this lightning procedure, Seminole United can help ensure the safety of everyone involved when lightning is a potential threat within a ten-mile radius of the facility.

Everyones safety is our top priority during adverse weather conditions.
